HURRAH FOR AMAZON PRE-ORDERS!

Hello, faithful readers! Happy Friday!

I don't have much of a post for you today because I've been completely submerged in my FF re-reading and marking up (the actual re-writing starts next week). And also, at just about the time that I would normally have been writing something witty and fascinating for you all to enjoy, I was taking a tumble down the stairs and doing some fairly nasty damage to my knee and ankle. But not to worry. I have applied frozen garden peas and frozen green beans to the affected areas, and I'm sure I'll be running about as normal very soon.

However, I do not come to you empty handed. Today, I present to you:

Shadows on the Moon, now available for Pre-Order on Amazon. Whoohoo! Check out the synopsis, guys.

The new edition of The Swan Kingdom (with improved cover!) also available for pre-order! And I can tell you that the despite the green lettering on the Amazon thumbnail, actually this cover has gorgeous shiny red lettering. Just like I always wanted!

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Is SHADOWS ON THE MOON available for pre-order in the U.S. or only in the U.K.?

Never mind. I just found out it isn't available for pre-order here. Oh well.

Sorry, Isabel! You can still order it through UK Amazon and chose the cheapest delivery option, though - I don't think it's very expensive, and it would still be quicker than waiting for the book to come out from Candlewick in the US.

Hmm.... Last time I tried to order a book from U.K. Amazon it said that you could only order it to be sent within the borders of the U.K. So I'm not sure....

Anyway, I noticed you read PRINCESS ACADEMY, by Shannon Hale, and rated it five stars. I'm a huge fan of her series based on the four elements in which THE GOOSE GIRL is the first book, but I haven't read that one. I think I will now. I noticed you only gave THE GOOSE GIRL three stars. What didn't you like about it? It's perfect!! Waah!
Anyway, I was really into Agatha Christie in fourth grade. My favorite that I read by her was HERCULE POIROT'S CHRISTMAS. Did I spell that right? Anyway, I also own a bunch of the movies, which are actually really good!!
Anyway, sorry about your injuries.
Good luck with re-writing FROSTFIRE next week.
I've been recommending DAUGHTER OF THE FLAMES to a number of people, as well as TSK, even to teachers!
So far everyone says they love it!

I just finished THE EMERALD FLAME, and realized that there is going to be a fourth book in the series after this one!! I just can't wait another year for it to come out!!!! I hate it when a book you've been waiting for for like a year comes out, you read it, and then you have to go back to waiting for a whole other year!!!! It's torture!!!!!
Ah, well. THE CHARMED RETURN, which is part of another great series by Frewin Jones, is coming out around february, so not too long a wait for that. *Sigh*
I'm kind of at a loss as to what I'll read next. Any suggestions?

Oh, actually, I think I'll read GRACELING next. Didn't you give it four or five stars? My sister also says it's great, and the plot seems really cool....

Well, I read it quite a long time ago but if I remember rightly, although I liked THE GOOSE GIRL I found it a bit tough to sympathise with the two main characters. Especially the prince. He didn't make my heart go 'ba-thump', you know?

GRACELING is a really excellent book; I love it when I can tell an author has really thought through all the implications of her decisions. Plus, her characters are beautifully written.

I know what you mean about series you thought were ending carrying on - you'd nerved yourself up to say goodbye, and were looking forward to all your questions being answered, and instead you're left with more questions than ever! But at least you get to visit that world and characters again, so it's not all bad.

Thanks for recommending my books to people, Isabel - word of mouth really is worth a lot to small-time authors like me!

What changed in FIRE that made you only give it three stars?

Zoë Marriott said...

Did I give FIRE three stars?? My finger must have slipped! I wants four at least! Mind you, I liked GRACELING more - there's some very dark, grim stuff in FIRE which made me enjoy it less on a purely subjective level.

Isabel said...

Ah, I'll check about FIRE, but I remember it being three stars....

Isabel said...

Oh, sorry, you really did give it four stars, not to worry! :)

Oh, so far GRACELING is really good! I can see what you mean about the author thinking everything through before writing it. That struck me very soon into the story. It's that type of writing that makes you really get to know a character straight-off, when they don't go off doing random things that are only really meant to serve the purpose of keeping the story going the way the author wants it too. I haven't had much time to read this weekend; I've been working hard on school applications and going to school interviews. Which is frustrating, because this is the kind of book that is screaming at you to read it, as you're brushing your teeth, doing your homework, and, coincidentally, doing school applications!
Did you know that there's going to be a third book in the series coming out? The release date hasn't been set yet, but Kristin Cashore is currently working on it. It's tentatively entitled BITTERBLUE, which is the protagonist's name.
Well, I'm going to go read now, bye!

Zoë Marriott said...

Ha ha - I'm glad you're liking it. I do know about BITTERBLUE and I'm looking forward to it - although I hope there's a bit less full-on angst than there was in FIRE.
