MONDAY MEEBLING

That's right - meebling. I said it, and I meant it. What does it mean? Well if you don't know, I can't tell you!

*Sigh*

Fine. It just means I have nothing interesting to share today, all right?

A new week has begun. I've spent my weekend productively, feverishly writing a new Plot Shape for FF, which I sent my my editor this morning. Until I've heard back from her, there's nothing else I can really do. I'm far too restless to begin any of the wonderful books in my To Be Read pile (even the ARC of Divergent that I won, which is full of enticing Post-Its from the author that promise all kinds of insights into the story). I'm far too restless to do anything useful. I'm far too restless to write an interesting blog post.

And so...I meeble.

Look, a kitten!

*Runs away*

P.S. Isabel, I think you asked me a question in the comments the other day, which I promised to answer - but I can't find the comment now. Can you remember what topic you wanted me to blog on?

P.P.S. I think someone else asked me a question too. It may have been Steph Su? If you can remember, please comment or drop me a line.

P.P.P.S. Anyone else have any topics they'd like me to blog on? Let me know.

P.P.P.P.S. STOP THE MADNESS!

XD HEHE.

Zoe. I hope everything turns out okay. You just chill, right?

Unlike most Mondays, I was waiting breathlessly for this one. I don't know why. And I loved today. It was pretty amazing.

Ya, I feel guilty saying all this. You're not having such a good time, are you? Good luck with everything. You'll survive, I swear :D.

Thanks, Megha. I seriously need to start figuring out a way to deal with these sorts of situations. Wasn't a problem when I used to get up and go into work every day - I couldn't even check my emails from the office. But now that self-employed it's much easier to give into my worst instincts and meeble instead of doing anything useful.

I'm glad you had a good Monday, anyway!

Fortunately I can only write from my bed and the internet cable here doesn't reach my bed, so I'm forced to work.

Unfortunately that means a lot less writing getting done rather than vice versa. :/

Actually, it probably helps you more than you realise! I'm thinking of investing in Freedom (a programme that forcibly shuts down your internet connection) because my email checking is just out of control.

I check my email too much, too. I'm addicted.

I can't remember if I asked you anything, but I'll check and get back to you if I find it... AH! Now I remember! We were talking about my trouble with Chapter Three, and you said it would turn out to be my best in the book. Then you said that you should do a post about it. Chapter Three worked out and now it's amazing (I'm so modest) but I would still LOVE to read that post.

Argh, I wish you could read my writing. I've been told before many times we have a similar writing style, and I think you could give me some great feedback. But of course, you can't. It's not legally good. So don't you mind me. Someday, I'll be a published author, and then you can read my work!

Ah, right - I remember now, Isabel. Thanks for jogging my memory. That topic definitely deserves a post. And I think I remember what Steph's question was too. I must write it down before it slips away again.

Just in case: I'm pretty sure I asked you on Twitter how writers go about portraying racial/ethnic diversity in fantasy. :)

Oh, and Divergent? SPLENDID.

Zoë Marriott said...

Thanks, Steph. And you know, I kind of thought that DIVERGENT would be amazing. That's really why I'm hesitating to read it, because it'll suck me in and, even though I can't work on FF right now, I'd really like to get *some* work done this week.

Steph: I asked that same question on Zoe's post called "Wake Up and Smell the Real World: Diversity in Fantasy". You can see what she said there. She talked about how in fantasy you are actually creating your own ethnicities, and they can be however you want them to be.
