First of all, a giant thank you needs to go out to beauteous Vivienne of the Serendipity Blog for making me my very first countdown widget - there it is, in all it's glory, on the right. Whoot! ETA: If anyone would like this widget for their own blog or website, drop me a line with your email in the comments and I'll send it your way. Vivienne also recently interviewed me for her Big Break feature here.
Secondly, Authors for Japan is now live and anyone with spare pennies can bid on a range of supremely cool items - for example, I'm offering a chance to have a character named after you, plus a signed copy of my first book - with all money going to aid for Japan.
Now, faithful blog readers will remember that last week on this day I interviewed the extremely-very-awesome-author-person Cat Clarke and offered to giveaway a copy of her first book, ENTANGLED.
Look, look how pretty! So swirly and bright. I have such a strong urge to dye my hair red when I see this cover. If I turn up in my next vlog with orange hair, you will know who to blame. But enough about me. Here is the Goodreads synopsis of Cat's book.
The same questions whirl round and round in my head:
What does he want from me?
How could I have let this happen?
AM I GOING TO DIE?
17-year-old Grace wakes up in a white room, with a table, pens and paper - and no clue how she got here.
As Grace pours her tangled life onto the page, she is forced to remember everything she's tried to forget. There's falling hopelessly in love with the gorgeous Nat, and the unravelling of her relationship with her best friend Sal. But there's something missing. As hard as she's trying to remember, is there something she just can't see?
Grace must face the most important question of all. Why is she here?
A story of dark secrets, intense friendship and electrifying attraction.
SO. AWESOME.
Now, without further ado...the winner is...
*Drumroll*
KATIE-LYNN!
Congratulations! Please contact me as soon as possible with your address Katie-Lynn, and I will get your prize - my copy of ENTANGLED, along with a selection of mysterious secret swag - in the post this weekend!
But wait! There's more! For those of you weeping softly into your keyboards (stop that, you'll give yourself an electric shock) there is ANOTHER INTERVIEW AND GIVEAWAY NEXT WEEK!
Oh ambassador, with these interviews I am really spoiling you! (Anyone born after 1989 won't get this, but never mind).
Next Wednesday on The Zoë-Trope I will be asking my nosy questions of writing superstar L.A. Weatherly, author of swoonworthy paranormal romance and action adventure Angel (titled Angel Burn in the U.S. and scheduled for release by Candlewick Press in May). Lee is someone who always has encouraging advice for me on Twitter when I'm feeling a bit depressed about a bad writing day or I just can't get something right, and I'm thrilled to have talked her into gracing my blog. I will also be giving away a copy of her wonderful book Angel.
In the meantime, take care!

oooo Zoe! are you letting us know the code for your widget so we can add it to our blogs ;)
Can't wait for more interviews and giveaways! :D yay! xx
Raimy: I'd be happy to provide it! Unfortunately, blogger won't let me post it in the comments, but just drop me a line and I'll email it to you. I think that'll work? I find HTML baffling. Luckily Vivienne is waaay smarter than me - so if you need any help with it, she is the one to ask.
Congratulations, Katie-Lynn! Now off I go to order Entangled online... well, later, when I have time. I can't wait to read it!
Seriously, you spoil us SO MUCH. I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!! I can't wait for the next giveaway. THANK YOU.
And I LOVE your widget -- so exciting!!!!!!! I seriously can't wait for this book.
Isabel: I think the one next week will be the last interview and giveaway for a while - I really need to concentrate on getting this re-write of FF written. You might get some short posts for the next little while. Sorry.
Thankyou for such lovely compliments. I am still going to try and darken it a bit,so it stands out more.
Thank YOU, Vivienne! You're such a perfectionist...:)
Oh my goodness! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. That's all I have to say (plus a few choice swear words that came to mind when I pretty much faceplanted while running downstairs to tell everyone in sight...note: fuzzy socks and carpeted stairs do not make a great combination). Also, I love the countdown, even though I feel like its mocking me. The girl on the front with her mysterious mona lisa smile is laughing at me because she already knows what happens in the book. Ok, enough of my ramble. I think it's a side effect of falling down the stairs lol. One more time a gigantic THANK YOU!!!!
Katie-Lynn
Yes, please don't give yourself a concussion, Katie-Lynn! You can't read anything if you can't see straight. You are very welcome, and I'm glad you're happy :) Drop me a line at zdmarriott at gmail dot com with your postal addy as soon as you can, okay?
Zoe: Haha, aww, I was getting used to having a giveaway every week! LOL.
Don't worry, it's silly to apologize that you're not going to have another giveaway the week AFTER next week. I've never heard of three giveaways in a row, let alone FOUR! (Or five, or six. Hmm...) And short posts are fine as long as they are also sweet. XD
Oh, plus, I finished chapter seven and got down another thousand words!
Isabel: Hurray for chapter seven! I finished chapter thirteen today, so let's cross our fingers that both our next chapters go well.
Good luck! I might need some for chapter eight. Let's see.
My chapters are actually usually relatively short. How long are yours? Well, actually, that's a rather silly question, considering I've read your work, so, more specifically: How long are the chapters in the book you're writing NOW and how long was chapter thirteen?
