Onto other stuff! A small number of The Night Itself proofs are currently with some lovely author people who are reading it in hopes that, if they like it, they might offer up blurbs. You know, those little lines that appear on a book cover or on the book's listing on Amazon, or on press releases. Well, not proper spoilers. Just the chapter titles for the book - inspired by Cassandra Clare's recent reveal of the chapter titles for Clockwork Princess (OMG, out in FIVE DAYS, I cannot WAIT, eeeeiii!).
The Night Itself was the first book where I actually used chapter titles instead of just chapter numbering, and I had a lot of fun coming up with tangential puns which probably no one but me will think are funny. They don't reveal as much as they might seem to, perhaps... but they do reveal a bit. So if you're very spoiler averse, avert your eyes now.

Ah, I am a big fan of naming chapters! I find it helps with the whole shaping of a novel when you see them all in a list like that. I think I like 'The Boy with the Sky in his Eyes' best.
Laura: That's one of my favourites too. What's funny is that I think they've all stayed the same right from the first draft - except that I changed 'Down the Rabbit Hole' to 'Through the Looking Glass'. But hopefully some of these will make you smile if you read the book.

Really really REALLY excited for the release :D I love the Alice in Wonderland reference; something that seems to be cropping up a lot, lately, ever since I read Down the Rabbit Hole by Peter Abrahams (very good book!). Captain Corelli's Mandolin keeps appearing everywhere, too.
I love chapter titles. Whenever I write they're the first things I come up with, and I find them a massive help because otherwise I go off track and write loads of unnecessary stuff.
Sorry, I'm rambling a bit (about to go dye my hair red for red nose day and am a little nervous, not helped by the fact that I just realised the hair dye is permanent).
Cannot wait for The Night Itself! Those 113 days won't pass fast enough.
Cherie: There's a running theme of literary references in the book, but I'm keeping them subtle - I hope that some people will notice and get a laugh out of them. I'm sure your newly dyed hair will be gorgeous. Good luck!

I'm SO excited about this book!! I LOVE the plot, and that cover...LUSCIOUS. In fact, I have just featured a post about the cover, on my Saturday meme/hop, "Shelf Candy Saturday". It's on my blog, "A Night's Dream of Books", up today, 3/16/13.
The only one of your books I've read so far is "The Swan Kingdom", which I ADORED, and reviewed on my blog. I also featured the cover on one of my SCS posts.
