FIRST!

Does that count on your own blog? Oh, well, whatever. Hello, and welcome to the Zoë-Trope, or as I like to think of it, the Wheel of Life (but someone else already called their blog that. Sigh).

I've never really maintained a blog before, but it seems like everyone else is doing it - besides which, I love to talk and I don't get the chance to talk to my readers enough. So here I am. Let me know if there are questions you want me to answer, topics you want me to cover. I'll do my best.

Video for everyone today. Two videos. Like a Bogof, only you don't have to buy one! I'm a genius.

Firstly, a sneak peak at my new novel which is coming from Walker Books (in the UK) in almost exactly one year.

Next, for any young writers in the audience, some helpful tips from me, inspired by a reader email.

And finally - because I like to surprise people - a THIRD video! This song is helping me plough through the very difficult eighth chapter of my current WIP. What's that you say? This writer is made of awesome? Why thank you, kind reader! So nice to be appreciated.

Thanks for commenting, Kehs.

Wow, I sure as hell am looking forward to Shadows on the Moon. Will there be any review copies available to bloggers?

Hi Saya, thanks for commenting. I hope there will be review copies - I'll bookmark your (decidedly awesome - DWJ quote FTW!) blog and make sure to ask them when the time comes. When my last book came out I bought a bunch of copies myself and sent them to bloggers, but my publisher slapped me upside the head and told me not to do that anymore;)

Rightly so, publishers are meant to take care of you, you shouldn't have to fend for yourself. You're like, their trophy wives. Just smile, be witty, and write books.

DWJ is awesome squared! I never get bored of reading Howl's Moving Castle. I'm even getting to the part where I'm forgiving Hiyao Miyazaki for the butchery he made of it, because on his own, HM is awesome too.

Did you ever read Lian Hearn's Tales of the Otori? I have a feeling she set the bar for YA stories that descend from Japanese tradition (it graduated from YA later in the series, though, I think).

Argh anyway, once I start talking about books, I find it hard to stop - you know, one book leads to another blah blah blah...

Oh, right, and I need to update my links list on my blog, what with you and with Alis having changed blogs, and ... I'll go do that.

Hey, I haven't changed my website address! I've just *added* a blog. Don't take my website address down. You're probably the only person on the internetz that's linked to it...
